Ingredients

  • 1 cup one-minute oats
  • 1¾ cups water
  • ½ Granny Smith apple or 1 small crisp apple (Honeycrisp, Braeburn, Pink Lady, or Jazz), cored and chopped into ¼” pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Sweet Home Apple Butter
  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon or apple pie spice
  • Optional: pinch of salt
  • Brown sugar, butter, or additional apple butter, to taste

Instructions

  1. Core and chop the apple into ¼” pieces.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the water, chopped apple, and apple butter.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until the apples begin to soften.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and stir in the oats.
  5. Cook for 1 minute, stirring, until the oatmeal is tender.
  6. Remove from heat. The oatmeal will continue to thicken as it cools.
  7. Finish with brown sugar, butter, or additional apple butter to taste.
