Bold, savory, and richly seasoned, this Bloody Mary Marinara Sauce adds classic cocktail spice to a timeless Italian favorite.

This tomato-forward marinara uses Sweet Home Bloody Mary Mix to build deep flavor with layers of pepper, garlic, and gentle heat. It’s perfect for pasta, meatballs, chicken parmesan, baked eggs, or as a dipping sauce for breadsticks and mozzarella sticks.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups Sweet Home Bloody Mary Mix
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼–½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, to taste)
  • ½ tsp celery salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar or honey (optional, to balance acidity)
  • 1 tbsp butter (optional, for richness)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and cook 5–6 minutes, until soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. Pour in Bloody Mary mix and simmer 5 minutes to concentrate flavor.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring until smooth.
  6. Season with oregano, basil, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, celery salt, and black pepper.
  7. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning; add sugar or honey if needed.
  9. Stir in butter at the end, if using, for a silky finish.

Variation: Spiked Marinara

For an adult-only version, add 1–2 tablespoons vodka along with the Bloody Mary mix and simmer an extra 2–3 minutes before adding tomatoes.
