Shakshuka with Sweet Home Bloody Mary Mix

Shakshuka with Sweet Home Bloody Mary Mix

Bold, savory, and richly spiced, this Bloody Mary–powered shakshuka brings classic brunch flavors to a comforting, one-skillet dish.

Shakshuka is a savory, one-pan dish of eggs gently poached in a richly spiced tomato and pepper sauce. Popular across North Africa and the Middle East, it’s traditionally served warm with crusty bread for dipping.

Warm tomatoes, peppers, and spices simmer together with Sweet Home Bloody Mary Mix, creating a deeply flavorful base for gently poached eggs. It’s perfect for brunch, breakfast-for-dinner, or anytime you want something hearty, bold, and satisfying—no alcohol required.

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups Sweet Home Bloody Mary Mix
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  2. Add onion and bell pepper; cook until softened, about 5–6 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in Bloody Mary mix and crushed tomatoes. Add smoked paprika, cumin, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer uncovered for 10–12 minutes, until thickened and deeply flavored.
  6. Make small wells in the sauce and gently crack eggs into each.
  7. Cover and cook 6–8 minutes, until whites are set but yolks remain soft.
  8. Garnish with herbs and serve warm with crusty bread.

Serving Tips

  • Serve straight from the skillet for a casual brunch centerpiece
  • Add feta, olives, or sautéed greens for extra depth
  • Leftover sauce reheats beautifully for next-day eggs

Variation: Spiked Shakshuka

For an adult brunch version, stir 1–2 tablespoons vodka into the sauce just before adding the eggs. Simmer 1–2 minutes to mellow the alcohol before continuing.
